Qualcomm in recent years is highly focused on its mid-range processors. Just a while back they announced the sd865 and sd765 series of processors. Both the series processors were a success story and featured in almost every major smartphone. sd765G is the most impressive processor of them. sd865 was not impressive enough due to its modem restriction which was its pro and con. Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G just arrived which is an unneeded upgrade. But of course, we aren’t against getting a little extra.
sd76G did steal the show with its 5G support making it the only choice for mid-range smartphones. The Gaming performance was not bad but still had room for improvement. sd768G comes fills this room with a 15% performance boost. The Clock Speed increased from 2.4Ghz to 2.8Ghz. Adreno 620 the thor hammer of sd765G gave it a 20% performance boost over sd765 for GPU. Qualcomm managed to improve that further by 15% making the sd768G roughly 38% faster than sd765 on GPU side.
Other aspects of the modem are same as its predecessors. The same Snapdragon X52 modem which supports both mmWaves and sub-60Hz 5G waves and compatibility with both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks. This processor mainly targets the mid-range smartphones that aim to deliver better gaming experience with 5G capability. One such smartphone is coming soon to market and I shall update you on that as it arrives. Just subscribe to the newsletter at the bottom for email notification when I do post about it.
