Lenovo Flex 5G: The First 5G ARM-based Laptop is here.

We heard rumours about an ARM mac and lenovo launched it.

This year the trend in the laptop and notebook industry will be ARM chips. Apple is rumored to launch an entry-level 14inch Macbook with an ARM chip. Lenovo Yoga 5G or Flex 5G is the new 5G laptop. The device was first seen at CES 2020. The new laptop by Lenovo is powered by Snapdragon 8cx the Qualcomm’s desktop-focused chipset. Lenovo flex 5G is the first laptop with Snapdragon 8cx available to end consumers.

The device is priced at $1399 which suggests this chipset is not going to be the flagship killer. But it can compete with Intel i5 processors. Why exactly we need an ARM laptop over Intel-powered laptops. ARM laptops come with integrated modems. You can insert a 5G sim card directly into the Lenovo Flex 5G. Just like your 5G smartphone. Apart from that, you get a much better battery life. Lenovo claims 8cx will help Flex 5G achieve a battery backup of up to 24hrs.

That is indeed a big improvement. Lenovo Flex 5G is launching only on Verizon for now. However, Lenovo will tie-up with other companies to provide more 5G networks available and even launch an unlocked version internationally. The device is also pretty lightweight and slim.
