OnePlus Nord CE 5G: Never Settle

OnePlus Nord CE 5G is the successor to the original OnePlus Nord. In short, it’s better and cheaper than the original Nord making it a better value for money device. The Focus of every smartphone company is shifting to mid-range smartphones because 60% of smartphone sales fall in the mid-range. When you buy a mid-range smartphone you get the best flagship and best value for money smartphones. Over the years the competition in this segment just turned fierce.

Performance

People who switch from budget smartphones to mid-range mostly look for powerful performance. OnePlus Nord CE 5G is powered by Snapdragon 750G which is the latest mid-range 5G chipset by Qualcomm. SD750G paired with 6-12GB of RAM and 128GB-256GB of ROM can handle whatever you through at it. You can play any game at its highest graphics without any problem. 4500mah battery is good enough to get you through the day. In emergency cases, you got a 30T warp charge which gets you 70% battery in 30min. Apart from that, you get 5G support to make you future-ready.

Display & Design

6.43inch 90Hz AMOLED with 2400×1080 resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio with a punch-hole camera are just beautiful and smooth. Watching movies on AMOLED display is a whole new experience if you are switching from normal LCD displays. 170G in weight 7.9mm in thickness 3.5mm headphone jack and an OnDisplay Fingerprint scanner make it one of the best-designed smartphones. But I would prefer a fingerprint embedded within the power button it’s just personal preference. Three beautiful colors: Blue Void, SIlver Ray, Charcoal Ink.

It is also splashproof but no IP rating. The Nord CE is all plastic built with a glass at the back. The headphone jack, charging port, and speaker sit at the bottom. The smartphone looks beautiful is easy to handle and weight is a big factor.

Camera

It features a triple camera system at the rear end. 64MP main sensor with 8MP ultrawide and 2MP mono sensor. The 64MP sensor allows it to zoom up to 10x digitally. The main sensor supports up to 4K video @30fps and slow motion of 120fps @1080p and 240fps @720p. It also features Time Lapse and many other camera features. As far as the quality goes it’s nothing extraordinary nor it is something fascinating. The ultrawide and mono are pretty irrelevant in most situations. Instead of these OnePlus should have chosen an Optical zoom lens. 16MP selfie camera for decent selfies. We have nightscape for a night or low light imaging.

Verdict

This smartphone is a good value for money if you buy the base model. Configuration above the base are just a little expensive. You can get better smartphones at prices around 30K INR or 400$. The base model costs 23K INR or close to 300$ which could be a value for money buy. It has everything that a good mid ranger needs performance, form factor, ease of use, one of the best android software, and much more.
