The Wasted Fire: How modern Pleasure is stealing your drive

When the fire within is not transmuted, it becomes smoke in the winds of distraction.

Modern humans often complain about lacking the motivation to do something about their goals. Feeling tired all the time and just slugging through the day has become a new normal. But, no one begs to question why it is so? Sluggishness is not natural to humans. Humans are the most proactive species on Earth, yet so sluggish… why? The answer lies in a physiological reaction, which we also call the reward system. Your brain rewards you for doing something exciting when you achieve something that makes you feel good with the dopamine hormone. But, in modern society, you can get this dopamine without climbing a mountain just by switching apps on your mobile. And that’s where the problem lies! The life force within you wants you to build something, achieve something, create something, move, but it gets leaked instead of being channeled. Leaked by cheap dopamine. Hours of scrolling, switching apps, chasing crumbs of stimulation… and still feeling….empty. That’s what happens when you are not able to transmute your life force into something greater.

Dopamine Dillemma

In a world ruled by instant gratification we are taught every urge deserves reward. One more snack, one more episode, one more notification and slowly and silently we hand over our fire that was meant to built our future for fleeting pleasures. Some may call this reward system flawed, as it reacts to such instant gratification, but it is this system that keeps life exciting. The system is not flawed, you just lack self-control. It’s this brain messenger of pursuit-the spark that gets you out of bed, pushed you into action, makes dreams worth chasing. But in today’s world dopamine is everywhere and nowhere at once. That’s why self control is crucial to build in today’s world.

The endless scroll, the sugar hit, the reels, the likes…
They don’t give you pleasure.
They give you anticipation.
But there’s no fulfillment—just an addictive loop of chasing, tapping, refreshing.

And every time you surrender to that loop, you make a silent trade.

You trade direction for distraction.
You trade depth for the dopamine drip.
You trade your fire… for a flicker.

Over time, your brain forgets how to chase the real rewards.
The ones that take time.
That ask for discomfort.
That demand presence, patience, purpose.

And so, life starts to feel dull.
Not because it lacks beauty,
But because your inner lens has been dulled by artificial sparks.

Leaking Energy

Each morning you wake up with restored life force and it makes you feel great. As the day passes this life force wants to be used to do something meaningful. Build a tank, bomb the villain, write a poem. But most of us somehow end up tired and feeling sluggish by the end of the day without actually accomplishing anything. Why? They call themselves lazy but,

Here’s the truth:
Most people aren’t lazy. They’re leaking.
Leaking energy through thousands of micro-decisions that offer cheap pleasure but no progress.

It’s not about what the outlet is—
Whether it’s porn, gossip, food, Netflix, or mindless scrolling—
The effect is the same: your life force gets siphoned away from what matters.

Imagine your energy like a sacred river.
If it flows without direction, it floods the fields of temporary highs.
But if it’s channeled with intention, it carves valleys, nourishes soil, builds civilizations.

The problem isn’t that you have no fire.
The problem is that no one taught you how to hold it.

The Cultural Setup

Humanity traversed from a culture of creation to a culture of consumption for the profit of few greedy humans. To consume requires no effort and most people easily give in to that comfort. The marketing bombshell keeps reminding you why you should keep chasing the meaningless. You are taught to not focus but scatter your energy into consuming, doing meaningless, chasing meaningless goals. And at the end of the day you feel you are lost. But it’s important to remember:

You weren’t born scattered.
You were taught to be.

We live in a culture that rewards immediacy and punishes presence. Everything is faster, shorter, louder. The moment you try to focus, there’s a screen waiting to rescue you from discomfort. When you feel sad—scroll. When you feel tired—caffeinate. When you feel restless—consume.

And behind every distraction, there’s a system profiting from your loss of control.

Algorithms are designed to capture your attention, not elevate your awareness.
Markets are built to sell comfort, not growth.
You are being fed convenience, while your potential starves.

So you begin to believe the lie:
That it’s just you. That you’re weak. That you’re lazy.
But no one told you that the deck was rigged from the start.

From Wasted Fire to Focused Flame

This is the turning point.

The moment you recognize that your energy is sacred—not infinite, but immensely powerful when directed.

Reclaiming your fire starts with awareness:
• Where are you leaking energy daily?
• What habits are rewarding you in the moment but robbing your purpose?
• What emotions do you run from, and what shallow pleasures do you reach for instead?

Then comes the ritual of transmutation:
Not suppression. Not guilt. Not shame.
But redirection.

You don’t kill the desire—you retrain it.
You don’t fear the fire—you forge it.

Transmuting life force is the art of turning raw impulses into focused creation.
It’s building a body, a vision, a mission—with the same energy you once spent chasing shadows.

This isn’t a quick hack.
It’s a way of life.
