Overview

Oppo did a great job at designing the f15 but they forget to put some decent performance under the hood. The 2 Year Old Chipset is the only problem with this Smartphone, which reduces its overall value. Competition offers better Performance and similar Camera setup at much cheaper price.

The mid range market of India is too hot. Smartphones are becoming harder to recommend one over the other. The BBK attack on Xiaomi played well in 2019. Though Xiaomi is still #! in India but it lost a chunk of its sales to OPPO, VIVO and REALME. Oppo and Vivo focused on providing premium design smartphones at budget value. Camera and design has been the key focus of Oppo always.

Oppo F15 is the first device by brand in 2020 and is prices close to 20K. What Oppo F15 has to offer you for the price? Let us see-

Design is all that Matters

Oppo F15 design is the only Highlight of this Smartphone but it is Inspired by its fellow brand Realme. Oppo F15 is designed similar to Realme XT. Little Changes in the design literally Changes the whole view. With lighter build and marginally slimmer Profile the device looks much better than Realme XT. Excellent Ergonomics allows the user to play around with the device without hand fatigue. The Power button is placed on the right and Volume buttons on the left. At the bottom edge centrally placed USB-C port surrounded by left and right with speakers and headphone jack.

The gradient color is a balance between aggressive gradient and subtle ones with perfect milky and purple color transition. The Black Color variant is made up of polycarbonate material which doesn’t look as impressive as glass. The 6.4inch Amoled display makes everything pop. The protection is provided by Corning Gorilla glass 5.

Camera

Cameras have always been the highlights of Oppo smartphones. Oppo F15 is no different. The Placement of Camera is inspired by Huawei P30 Pro. The Quad Camera is placed within a black glass with a dual led flash. 48MP main shooter 8MP ultra Wide 2MP Macro and a depth Sensor. The Camera App doesn’t support 48MP images and Sticks to 12MP pixel binned images by default. 16MP rear facing Camera also does a great job.

Performance

Mediatek P70 is the only problem with this device. A 2 Year old Chipset cannot compete with latest Processors. This device can feel laggy depending on the amount of usage. The device comes with 8GB ram however which can help in multitasking. Better Chipsets at much lower prices are available. Popular Games like PUBG are playable only at low graphics settings.

Verdict

A price close to 20K demands a lot from Smartphone. Especially when the Competition is so stiff. Oppo F15 is a good device but the drawback of Chipset makes it really bad value for money. The Camera module is similar to Other devices in the price bracket. Better go with Realme XT in the lower range or Honor 20 in high range. Comment below which smartphone you prefer over Oppo F15.
