In the past few years, Qualcomm has gained several competitors in the industry. The first to give Qualcomm a real chase is MediaTek, with their Dimensity series chipsets.
A few weeks ago, on November 18, MediaTek announced their new flagship SoC chipset: Dimensity 9000. This chipset is to take on the new Snapdragon 8 series SoC.
The leak was provided by a tipster on Weibo, Digital Chat Station. He posted the specs regarding the Dimensity 7000.
This chipset is for budget friendly devices. It is for mid-range, entry level premium devices. For the higher mobile range, MediaTek is providing Dimensity 9000 instead.
Here are the Specs
According to the tipster, Dimensity 7000 has 5nm fabrication process. It has four Cortex A78 cores, clocked at 2.75GHz. Four more Cortex A55 cores set at 2GHz. This processor will be compatible with 5G.
For context, Dimensity 9000 comes with one prime X2 core, clocked at 3.05GHz. It comes with three performance cores Cortex A710 with speed of 2.85GHz. Four efficiency cores with 1.8GHz clock speed.
The processor will feature Mali-G510 MC6 GPU for graphics. This GPU will have 100% performance boost and 22% energy efficiency, compared to it’s previous version Mali-G75. However, since this is a claim, there is no telling if it’ll turn out to be true or not.
More Information
The most recent leak suggests that Redmi K50 will feature Dimensity 7000 processor.
Dimensity 9000’s launch in China will happen on December 16th. It’s possible that MediaTek gives more information about the Dimensity 7000 on the same day. However, it’s not confirmed yet, so we need to wait and watch.
Qualcomm, on the other hand, will unveil their new Snapdragon 8 series in an event too. The naming of the Qualcomm chipsets have changed. However, there are expectations from Qualcomm to release a mid-range chipset too, to rival MediaTek’s Dimensity 7000.
