Xiaomi’s Sub-brand Poco has been teasing a new long-lasting Smartphone for quite a while. Now the device is officially launched. The Phones Camera design is somewhat closer to the OnePlus 8T CyberPunk Edition but it looks cool. The device is a lower mid-range smartphone and directly competes with the OnePlus N100. Now Let’s Review the successor to Poco M2 in little detail
Performance
Every Smartphone’s value starts with how good it works. Poco M3 is priced at 149$ and offers Snapdragon 662 Processor with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 Storage (64GB/128GB). In this Price Category, Helio G85 is considered among the most powerful processors. Snapdragon 662 defeats G85 in multi-core benchmark test but loses on Single Core and Antutu score according to nano review.
In terms of performance both Helio G85 and Snapdragon 662 are identical overall but in terms of efficiency Snapdragon 662 is better. Snapdragon 662 is an 11nm processor whereas Helio G85 is a 12nm Processor. It also features up to 512GB of expandable storage.
Camera
The camera is the main focus of this smartphone. It features a triple camera sensor 48MP main sensor 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. It can capture some really good pictures in good lighting conditions. Even indoor shots are good if you turn on the night mode. The device also offers time-lapse video which is good.
Slow motion video can go upto 120fps. It can also shoot 1080p videos @30fps. 8MP front camera that can click some descent shoots in daylight. But lacks the potential to click good selfies indoors. But overall the combination of Camera is value for money deal.
Display & Design
6.53inch dot drop FHD+ display you don’t get that in every lower mid-range smartphone. It also got TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification and Widevine L1 Certification. You get a side-mounted fingerprint which not only is more versatile but also makes the smartphone more premium. All the three colors look stunning.
You have Black, Yellow and Cool Blue to choose from. The back has leather like finish at the back which looks incredibly good and is also easy to handle. It weighs 198g with thickness of 9.6mm which is not that slim but is not that heavy as well. You also get HiRes audio certified dual speakers at the bottom which sounds pretty well.
Battery
You get a 6000mAh battery on Poco M3 which on descent usage can give a battery backup of up to 2 days. But it will last at least 11hrs under really heavy usage. The Company claims 17hrs of Video playback. Comes with 18W fast charging which is enough to give you peace of mind when running low on battery.
Company claims the battery will last 25% longer than other smartphone batteries on room temperature. And Can last upto 20% longer at high temperatures. 1000Charging cycles which simply means the battery will last at least 2.5 years. Battery degradation is a huge problem with heavy smartphone users.
Verdict
Poco M3 is a value for money smartphone. On top of the specs the company has also promised in the past to deliver a minimalist ad free User experience which will add even more value to the device.
