Wearable Robotic Arm: bring terminator to your house

This robotic arm will fulfill your childhood dream to become a Doctor Octopus

Each one of us has dreamed about a robot helping us lift heavy boxes. After watching Doctor Octopus in Spiderman I dreamed of those extra hands to help do a ton of work simultaneously. A team of researchers from Université de Sherbrooke located in Canada builds a wearable Robotic Arm. With this wearable, Robotic Arm brings terminator to your house. But what it does for the customer and how it compares to Doctor Octopus arms.

IEEE spectrum gave a little insight into what this arm can do. The Arm can move at a speed of 3.4 meters per second and can lift up to 5Kg of weight. Even though the arm is bigger than the human arm but ways almost the same i.e. 4Kg in weights. The arm is light but the power source is not integrated. It uses an external power source so not enough mobile. Arms like these can do a lot.

It learns the movements of the user with the help of AI technologies. It can be used to hold extra items or to transport light items from one box to another. This Arm can also be used in restaurants and other places where repetitive tasks exist. The arm is quite powerful and can even break walls. Although these are pretty realistic use cases. The Arm is not ready yet to be delivered for end-use.

But we can expect transformers around us in a year or two. Ok, I was joking!. Thanks for reading. Stay Safe! Stay Humble!.
