Parler: What’s the ban all about?

If you have been following US news than you might know about recent Trump Incident. After Trump’s tweets and posts violence happened in the US on Joe Biden’s inauguration. Following that incident Trump was banned by all major social Media Platforms. But One social media stood out due to its poor content moderation policies i.e. Parler

Several posts on parler app exists to incite violence in US. Keeping Public safety in mind Google banned Parler from play store on Friday evening with a statement. Parler gained heavy user base after that on Apple store and became #1 app in US.

 “We recognize that there can be reasonable debate about content policies and that it can be difficult for apps to immediately remove all violative content, but for us to distribute an app through Google Play, we do require that apps implement robust moderation for egregious content. In light of this ongoing and urgent public safety threat, we are suspending the app’s listings from the Play Store until it addresses these issues.”

Google’s Statement

Just after Google ban Apple issued a 24hr ultimatum to Parler regarding their content moderation policies. Parler didn’t gave a reply that can satisfy Apple and its policies leading to ban of the app on Apple app store. Apple issued statement stating Parler doesn’t have good enough content moderation policies and keeping Public safety in mind they had to ban it.

That’s not the end of it. Amazon follow Apple, Google and issued a 24hr ultimatum to ban Parler on AWS platform. Parler also said to its users that it might go offline for a week but we will back after rebuilding itself. Thanks to Trump Incident and Parler poor content moderation the might is at the brink of its end.
