The End to Coronavirus is near

Coronavirus or COVID-19 is a virus with no cure. Coronavirus is spreading at a rapid rate across the world. This virus is deadly and infected thousands around the globe. Coronavirus has a long history of discovery. COVID-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 may now have a cure. If this new proposal passes the test then the end to coronavirus is near.

Japan one of the best countries to live in the world again proves to be beneficial. A new study published on cell shows that SARS-CoV-2 binds to the human cell in a similar fashion as the original SARS Coronavirus that caused a worldwide outbreak in 2003. These binding depends on vital proteins called ‘spike’ proteins. These bindings of course require an intermediator. Clearing up the details TMPRSS2 is the protease that could be what enables these bindings.

The COVID-19 uses the same host protein ACE2 as the old coronavirus which has already been treated. The compound ‘camostat mesylate’ can be used to treat COVID-19 according to this new research. The compound is medically tested and is used in Japan for the treatment of various diseases. However, it has never been used for the treatment of COVID-19 on humans. Therefore, a thorough study and testing will be necessary before it can be used worldwide.

Questions still hold that if the compound blocks the known protease will not there be a backup. But, we need to take chances to gain something. Another, cure for the same is found in the form of antibodies in people who were infected with coronavirus back in 2003. Those people that were affected in 2003 are immune to coronavirus and can help in further research. The cure for coronavirus is a few months away from us. FDA may allow non-label usage to make it available faster. Let me know in the comments what are your thoughts?
