Apple’s 5th iPad Air: First Specs

Apple, in the spring launch event revealed 5 new things. iPad Air 5th Generation is one of them. It comes with exciting new things, new colours, and of course, the new chip! The MacBook Air is still TBA for this event, as it seems.

Here is a list of rumours/predictions that went around before the event. Now what rumours turned out to be true.

Now let’s look into the specs of iPad Air 5th Gen first:

Design

The new iPad Air is very similar to it’s previous model. The 4th gen was released in 2020.

It has a 10.9inch display, and Touch ID. The edges are flat. 2360×1640 pixels of resolution. The new iPad Air’s design isn’t very different, really. If you own an Air, we think you shouldn’t bother buying this version. Not for the design, at least.

Specs

The exciting update of the iPad Air 2022 is the M-series processor. This new M1 chip is called M1 Ultra. It has an octa-core CPU and octa-core GPU. The graphics performance is double from the 4th gen.

The selfie-camera went from 8MP to 12MP, with “Centre Stage” — auto-framing. This auto-framing means the camera will focus on you and follow you around, so you don’t have to keep moving your iPad.

The storage variants are 64GB and 256GB. Apple provides 5G support for this new one. And the speed of the USB-C is up to twice as much (10Gbps).

Air 5th Gen is compatible with 2nd gen Apple Pencil, and the Magic Keyboard. Smart Keyboard Folio too.

It comes in 6 different colours: Black, White, Electric Orange, Dark Cherry, English Lavender, and Marine Blue.

So it looks like it’s a good purchase if you want better graphics display. Otherwise, is it?
